Pole Spear for Fishing Through an Ice Hole
I made this polespear and tips for shooting small smelt type fish through a hole made in the Ice on Hudson Bay in Canada. The end user would be in a small shack with limited head room for a long pole.
The internal line on backside provided a longer shot distance. Note the loop so the pole could be attached to prevent it being lost.
The tip design was based on ancient fishing tips examples. I just used stainless steel vs seal skins and walrus ivory. The sharp needle is replaceable with a set screw. The guide rods can be bent and adjusted as needed in use.
